How To Get Super Fit On The Raw Food Diet
This article was written by a fit old man who was looking back on his earlier life as a sick young boy. This item is the result. My hope is that if your health is not as you would have it, if perhaps your start in life was tough too, you would be inspired by what is to follow.
There is an old but true saying; “Without your health, all the worlds wealth will not bring you pleasure”.
I thank God that,as a young man,I heard and acted upon the truth of this sage advice. Why? Because poor health was my constant companion in my early years.
I was a premature baby, and spent my first days in an oxygen tent, struggling for life ,and being grossly underweight. I was never robust, and forever falling prey to every disease that was doing the rounds.
The time came,in my late teens, after yet another bout of sickness had ravaged my already weakened immune system, that I decided enough was enough.
Getting fit was now my priority. I started a body-building course (remember Mr Charles Atlas?) but couldn’t really get the hang of his “dynamic tension” method. Anyway,I started jogging, going on long brisk walks, and the odd visit to the local swimming pool. All things incidentally that I still do to this day.
Eventually, I became a vegetarian, and then some time later, a raw foodist (how we love labels!) as I saw the logic of not cooking everything.
I have to say, over all those many years, and looking back from the vantage point of a man now in his late 60′s ( some have thought I was in my 50′s) that I have been blessed beyond measure with this regime of fitness.
Anyone can do it,and its virtually free. I want to also say that I feel my Christian faith has had more than a little to do with my success, teaching me perseverence.
But wether you’re a person of faith or not,you too can benefit,if you follow the same course of action. It all depends on how much value you put on your health.
Let me outline the plan of action in 3 steps:
Step One: JOGGING
I mentioned jogging earlier. This is in my opinion one of the best of all methods to get you fit aerobically, and your only expense is a pair of decent trainers. Get a well padded pair;cushioning is crucial, especially in the earlier stages of training.
Start
1000
very gently. Jog slowly for 100 yards. Then, walk 200 yards, and settle your breathing. Then repeat the process 3 times, gradually extending it to last about 30 minutes. Do that for at least a month, and you should be getting along pretty well.
Step Two: WALKING
If you find jogging, even slowly, a problem for some reason, then you`ll be happy to know that brisk walking will do almost as well. But,it must be brisk. A gentle stroll wont cut it! You must raise your heart rate to strenghthen your cardiovascular system. Use the trainers, and not conventional walking shoes. They’re much easier on the feet. Walk briskly for 100 yards, stop and rest for 3 minutes. Then repeat on up to about 30 minutes.
Step Three: DIET
I have written extensively on nutrition, especially in relation to Raw Food Diet. There are several on this site, and you can check out my new raw food blog, accessed from my authors bio.
But, suffice to say, that cooked foods and processed foods are lacking in living enzymes.which are vital for health, but virtually destroyed through the cooking process.
Juicing fresh fruit and vegetables, especially Apples,Oranges,Berries, and Bananas. Carrots,Celery,Cucumbers and Lettuce, will make a tremendous difference to your health and energy levels.
Peel,Juice and drink no less than 3 pints of fruit or veg a day. To find out more check out my articles on this site. You can access my blog too from my profile box.
Good health!
