My raw foods diet

I am so very excited.  I have been on a raw foods diet now for going on two weeks now.  I have to tell you that I can honestly say that I can’t recall ever feeling this good in my adult life.  I remember feeling something like this when I was a kid.  But that was probably because my mom was in control of my diet.  I was raised a vegetarian, so this really should come naturally to me.  But it doesn’t any more.  I contaminated my body with all the processed and unnatural foods that have become common place in our country.  I joined the millions of Americans who are eating poorly.

It’s funny how it’s not until you are faced with decisions of your own personal health, that you look back and appreciate what your parents did.  Or at least that’s how I’m feeling now.  I find it most interesting that I was basically raised on a raw foods diet until I reached high school.  My mom gave me the power of choice over my nutrition at that time.  I am still kicking myself for the first whoper that I ate. 

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that eating meat is wrong.  Some people are fine with it and it works for them, while for other people it’s not a good idea.  I am one of those people who should really only eat meat almost never.  So it was a bad idea for me to introduce meat into my system, a very bad idea.  So it seems that after all these years, I’ve decided that the best diet for me would be the raw foods one. Now bear in mind that just because it’s a raw foods diet doesn’t mean that everything you eat is raw.  I have the luxury of eating some cooked foods.  Of course it’s only a slight amount of cooked food, basically about 20 to 15% cooked if that much.  No I’m not a vegan, where they eat only raw foods, 100% raw foods.  I’m not there yet, and maybe I’ll get there, I’m not sure.  I must admit that while I enjoy my raw foods diet now I do enjoy eating a few cooked items every now and then. 

Do I miss some of those processed foods every now and then?  Yes I do, but the beauty of the raw foods diet is that there are so many natural foods out there that I can eat.  And those foods are better than the processed ones.  I’m a work in progress though, and I’m feeling great about it.  I’m sure I’ll have more to share soon enough.  In the meantime, good eating to all.  Go here for additional  raw foods diet information.

Is a Raw Foods Diet for you?

I’m a huge fan of eating healthy.  I think that it’s the best way to get the most out of your life.  By having a healthy life it means that you can truly enjoy living.   So when I started looking at better ways to improve my overall health, I looked at being a vegetarian. You know getting away from all the processed meats and hormone laced products as well as removing the probability of disease and undo health problems.  I even toyed with the idea of becoming a vegan but I hadn’t done any research on it and so I thought I would give it a go.  In doing so I stumbled on some information on a raw foods diet and it got me hungry for more info.

So what is a raw foods diet and what does that mean for all the cookies and baked goods that I like to enjoy?  What would that mean to my fridge and the current contents in it?  Well in a nutshell, a raw foods diet is exactly what it says.  You eat raw foods.  But I found it to be more than that.  I found it to be a really health way of living.  You see there is no cooking involved when you eat raw foods.  You eat the food in its natural form, the way nature intended it to be; raw, natural, wholesome and full of vitamins and nutrients and nothing else. 

Now the thing about eating a raw foods diet is that you want to make sure that the food isn’t the regular fruits and veggies that you are eating.  When I say regular I mean, the ones that you go to a grocery store and pick up.  No sir, you want the organic fruits and veggies. Why you ask would you want to do that?  Well let me tell you, those pretty, big and shiny red apples that you see sitting in the produce section of your chain grocery store have been grown on a farm that uses pesticides and additional chemicals and then they added a little wax for the shine appeal.  Can you imagine how healthy that is for you?  Not very, at all, but if you go to the organic section to the dull looking red and white apple, you are guaranteed to have a very fresh and healthy product.  Something filled with all the proper enzymes to help you digest all the nutrients that are naturally in that apple.

I’m not saying that a Raw Foods Diet is what you need, but if you are searching for a healthy alternative to the norm and are looking for something a little more than vegetarianism, give this Raw Foods Diet a try.
