My friends and their raw food diets

I have friends who have been on many different diets lately.  I have several of them who just recently decided to change to raw food diets to see if they could drop some of the excess weight that they seem to have put on over the years.  It’s been a pretty interesting journey for all of us, to say the least.  Some of them are doing ok and others not so much. 

One friend decided that they were just going to go from eating junk food and drinking sodas one day to eating vegetables and drinking 100% pure fruit juices.  Needless to say that was so much of a shock not only for his body but for his mind, he was ready to quit in a week.  And that is the thing that you have to be mindful of.  You have to prepare not just your body, but your mind for such a healthy change to raw food diets.

Then my other friend decided to do a half and half kind of thing.  Let me explain the half and half theory that he decided to do.  First he went from eating hamburgers and French fries for lunch each day to eating sub sandwiches and drinking water.  Then he went from eating subs and drinking water to eating salads and drinking water.  Now his breakfast still consist of scrambled eggs, buttermilk biscuits and sausage, and his dinner is half salad, half steak.  Of course his steak is only the very best.  It’s not the regular cut that you can find in the stores, its kosher meat and so only the best for him.  I’m not sure how this diet is working for him, but he says he can feel the difference.

And then there are my other two friends.  They seem to have it together the most.  They have read books and did their research.  They have decided that if they are going to do this, they are going to do it right.  So they have gradually eased their minds and their systems into the raw food diets which have seemed to work nicely for them.  They feel better, and they look better.  One can actually see their weight loss.  And they say that they have more energy than they every thought they would have. 

I’m not an expert, but out of the three of these options, I think that the latter is making the most headway.  And unlike the other diets that are around, I think that they will be able to stick with their raw food diets as they planned.  I’m cheering them on as they eat better and feel better.  See more raw food diets and healthy recipes information here.

Besides the internet, bookstores are another place to find menu options and they are plentiful.  You can look through the various cookbooks that they have for the raw food diet and come up with almost everything.   They have books that are geared towards making it easy for kids to transition off of food products that are processed to becoming raw foodist.  They give you raw food diet menu options for every possible event, including elegant affairs.  And when I say elegant I mean those really nice evening events that you generally get catered.  Yes they even have menu options for those.  And those options are coming from top raw food chefs, not your average fast food chain connoisseur. 

Regardless of what event you are planning or what transition phase you are in, there is always an avenue to find raw food diet menu options for you to work with.  And those options are going to be not just fun and delicious, but they are going to be healthy for both you and your family. A little info on raw food diets

I was raised vegetarian from the time I was able to eat food until I went to high school. I recently went back to being a vegetarian and ran into an old friend of mine who happened to be a vegan.  We started talking and she mentioned that she wasn’t just a regular vegan; she was a raw food vegan.  Now this peaks my curiosity since I don’t know that much about raw food diets.  We start talking and I’m amazed at the fact that she eats all her food totally and completely raw.

So what exactly did she mean by having a raw food diet? Well let me share my enlightening experience with you.  Individuals who enjoy a staple diet of raw foods, do not heat their foods at all.  Of course you are probably thinking, like I was thinking, isn’t that hard on your digestion?  And it isn’t nor is it hard on your digestion.  It’s just the opposite.  While the reality is, plenty of us use raw foods in our diets on a regular basis.  Even those individuals who don’t eat what we would consider a healthy diet.  When you cut a tomato or eat a salad that is eating raw food. 

I know what you are thinking.  To do this 100% of the time for all of your meals, WOW!!!!  Believing that if they heat their food to anything over 106 degrees, would kill the nutrients that are found in raw foods, they choose not to do so.  And believe it or not, there are very healthy proponents found in eating foods raw.  But let me clarify what I mean by raw foods.  I’m not talking about meat and fish or poultry.  We are talking about nuts, fruits and vegetables.  And yes you can live on nuts, fruits and vegetables and be healthy. 

You don’t need to cook broccoli to get the calcium from it.  Actually you would get a larger amount of calcium from a raw head of broccoli than you would from a glass of milk. Go take a look and see how the raw food diets could be helpful in maintaining good health.  While this is not a diet for everyone, there are some individuals that can do it and enjoy it. 

I’m going to take some time and explore this option a little more, I’m not saying that I’m going to change from being a vegetarian to eating a raw food diet, but I’m willing to take a closer look.  Stay tuned, I should have some very interesting things to share about raw food diets really soon.

I have to first say that there are so many benefits of raw food diets that I can’t possibly describe them all here.  I can give you a quick explanation of the science behind these benefits and empower you to learn more on your own.   Better than that, I will tell you how to learn of more and hidden benefits that many do not experience, because they are using inaccurate information.

Usually people look online for information about raw food diets.  They may have heard on TV or through a friend how eating this way is ideal.  The reason is that foods eating on raw food diets are not stripped of their enzymes.  This is because the cooking process is responsible for killing good enzymes that our bodies need.  When you implement raw food diets, the benefits are near instant.  You may have to try for yourself, if you’re skeptical like I was, and then you’ll know what I’m talking about.
